Breakthrough Energy Ventures has raised more than $1 billion for its clean energy fund. Bill Gates is serving as the chairman of BEV while the board of directors include John Doerr, chairman of Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures and Jack Ma, executive chairman of the Alibaba Group.
