US-based insurtech Metromile has received a $90 million Series E funding round co-led by Tokio Marine Holding and Intact Financial, and including NEA, Index, and Future Fund. Metromile focuses on car insurance and uses a pay-per-mile model to assess how much a person should pay for their policy. Customers install Metromile Pulse in their cars, which determines how many miles a person is driving to come up with their monthly insurance bill. Drivers can also use Metromile's app to track their habits.
