On Monday the Supreme Court rejected a bid by Robert Allen Stanford to overturn his conviction and 110-year sentence for running a Ponzi scheme that conned investors in 113 countries out of approximately $7.2 billion. Federal prosecutors said that for more than two decades the Texas financier ran a scam based on the sale of fraudulent high-yielding certificates of deposit.
