Truework, a data management startup that claims to give consumers control of their data, announced $12 million in Series A funding led by Sequoia Capital. Truework cofounder and CEO Ryan Sandler told Business Insider that he came up with the idea for a decentralized data monitoring startup with two friends in 2017 during the peak of blockchain mania. He quickly realized that building a monitoring tool on blockchain would be "impossible" given regulatory processes.
