The National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) has unveiled a GBP 58 billion ($74.2 billion) proposal to raise Great Britain’s generation capacity using renewable energy, with the ultimate goals of meeting growing demand and achieving power sector decarbonization. The plan aims to connect a further 21 gigawatts (GW) of wind in development offshore Scotland to the grid, on top of a previous recommendation of 23 GW.
