How Much Do Private Equity Firms Commit to Their Funds?

Bain Capital this month closed on $7.3 billion for its latest fund, $800 million of which came from the firm itself. It turns out the size of that commitment, nearly 11% of the entire fund, is somewhat rare in the industry, according to a survey on terms from Schulte Roth & Zabel in conjunction with Private Equity International. The survey of 130 general partners found that 11% of firms made a commitment of more than 10% to their most recent funds. More than three quarters of those surveyed committed less than 5% to a fund.

André Steyn: Africa's leading short-seller

From OpalesqueTV André Steyn is the CEO and Portfolio Manager of South-Africa based Steyn Capital Management , which he founded in 2008. From 2004 to 2008, André was the CEO of Temujin Fund Management UK, the UK arm of a billion dollar New York based hedge fund.
