Seeing the onset of a financial crisis, Canavan instead made his first allocation in infrastructure, which saved the plan from deadly losses during the 2008 Financial Crisis. Since then, he has built out the real assets portfolio for NMERB with diversified exposure in various assets. New Mexico State Readies $200M And Could Raise Real Estate Allocation
<p>New Mexico State Investment Council plans to invest $200m (€175m) in non-core real estate this year and could increase its target allocation.</p>
<p>Vince Smith, deputy state investment officer for New Mexico, said the sovereign wealth fund plans to commit the capital to commingled funds over the next six months.</p>
PSP Investments Buys Majority Stake In Australia’s Stahmann Farms
Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) has acquired a majority interest in Stahmann Farms Enterprises, an Australian grower, processor and marketer of pecans. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Toowoomba, Queensland, Stahmann Farms was founded in 1971 as an Australian branch of the Stahmann family pecan farm originally established in New Mexico in 1932. It has been independent since its spin-off in 2006. Stahmann Farms said it will use its partnership with the Canadian pension fund to help increase production capacity and improve processing facilities in New South Wales and Queensland.
