Grinnell College is a private liberal arts college located in Grinnell, Iowa and is ranked #13 on the U.S. News and World Report’s list of Best National Liberal Arts Colleges.  The Office of Investments manages the College’s $2.9 billion endowment, which is known across the country as a top performer among peer institutions and beyond.  The Investment Operations Analyst position provides the backbone of investment data and evaluation for the eight-member team of highly qualified professionals.  This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented, tenacious professional, with career advancement opportunities.  The position may be performed with a combination of remote time and time in the Grinnell, Iowa office.

The Investment Operations Analyst will report to the Director of Investment Operations and will work closely with other members of the investment and operations teams.  They will record investment exposures, attribution, holdings, and benchmarks, creating reporting on this data that will be relied upon both internally and externally.  The Investment Operations Analyst will also monitor and record investment activity and related documents and perform reconciliations and assessment of internal financial records and third-party investment information.  Assisting with other internal reporting needs, such as calculating investment performance, will also be a part of the role.  Finally, the Investment Operations Analyst will perform ad hoc projects as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Records and ensures accuracy of investment data, including exposures, attribution, holdings, and benchmark returns.  Use of technology and evolving best practices will be a focus.
  • Prepares reporting on data that will be relied upon internally by the investment and operations teams and externally by the Board of Trustees to make endowment management decisions
  • Communicates observations on investment data to members of the investment team
  • Reviews document management process for completeness and accuracy
  • Analyzes and processes endowment invoices and prepares expense assessment
  • Performs valuation and transaction processing in a backup role to support the Investment Operations Accountant 
  • Works with the operations team to help manage external service providers including custodial relationships, legal/tax counsel, and external audit requirements 
  • Assists with endowment performance measurement
