Demonstrated success in growing, managing and assuming fiduciary responsibility for $20 billion of US retirement plan assets for a Fortune 50 global technology company. Extensive investment background includes hands-on experience as an institutional investment manager, corporate banker, public plan trustee for a $2 billion pension fund, board member and investment committee chairman of a $330 million endowment fund. Accomplishments include:
• Constructing complex multi-asset class portfolios, incorporating both traditional and alternative investments, for one of the top 200 largest US retirement plan sponsors.
• Managing the implementation process including asset allocation, manager selection, ongoing monitoring, reporting, communications, compliance and operations.
• Persuading investment committee members of an endowment fund to further diversify during the financial crisis to both de-risk to minimize losses but to also take advantage of unique investment opportunities. Combined with a gradual reduction of the endowment spending policy the derisking and opportunistic investing, resulted in a faster recovery of assets.
• Providing thought leadership, conducting research, and recommending innovative solutions to create a decision framework for protecting assets and maximizing returns in US and non-US retirement plans.
• Collaborating and building agreements across functions, domestic and international locations, all levels of leadership, and culturally diverse stakeholders on investment decisions including asset allocations.
• Serving as trustee or adviser to non-US plans in Hong Kong, Japan, Israel, Ireland, UK, Germany, Australia, and Canada.
• Being asked to be a featured speaker and serve as a panelist at numerous domestic and international industry conferences on multi-asset class portfolios and custom target date funds.
