Rob Walker Freer

Managing Director at UVIMCO. Rob is responsible for private equity, venture capital, real estate, and resource investments. He is a member of UVIMCOs Investment Committee and also works closely with UVIMCOs General Counsel on issues related to fund management and documentation. Rob joined the University in the Investment Office in April 1981 as the Assistant Investment Officer. Prior to joining the University, Rob was a practicing attorney in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He is a member of the Virginia, Florida and District of Columbia Bars and is a member of the Charlottesville/Albemarle Bar Association. Rob served three years in the U.S. Army on active duty as an Infantry Officer (Second Lieutenant and First Lieutenant) with tours at Fort Benning Georgia, Fort Carson, Colorado and in the Republic of Korea. He also served three years on active duty as a Captain in The Judge Advocate Generals Corps, stationed at The Judge Advocate Generals School in Charlottesville, Virginia. Additionally, he served twenty-three years in the U.S. Army Reserve with assignments at The Judge Advocate Generals School and at the Pentagon in the Office of Personnel, Plans, and Training, which is responsible for the career management of approximately 1,500 active duty JAG Officers. He concluded his Army Reserve career as a Colonel. Rob has served on the Board of Directors of various charitable organizations in Charlottesville and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Virginia Community Credit Union, having served in the past as Treasurer and Chairman of the Board. He also is Chairman of the Board of two wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Credit Union. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Parents Committee at the University of Virginia for the past five years.
