Reginald Tucker invests in Opportunistic Investments as the Special Investment Officer of the Opportunity Portfolio for the $150+ billion New York State Common Retirement Fund ("CRF"). The Opportunity Portfolio (“OP”) seeks to increase portfolio diversification and target the best risk-adjusted returns by investing throughout the capital structure and taking advantage of short and medium-term market dislocations. Portfolio investments are made across all asset classes in strategies that may not fall within the traditional asset class definitions. Areas of opportunity may include but are not limited to: credit and distressed strategies, private debt and alternative fixed income, emerging markets, hybrid securities, multi-asset class strategies and emerging or niche strategies.
Prior to his role at the CRF, Reginald spent 3 years as the Investment Officer for Alternative Investments at the Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds. Other past roles include managing capital for a private investment fund and 5 years at Citigroup Global Markets in the Equities division. While there, Reginald managed a trading book of equity and alternative equity investments, including REITs, Oil and Gas MLP shares, and Closed-End Funds.
In addition to his various trading and investment related roles at Citigroup, Reginald worked as a Principal Trader for a proprietary hedge fund group, an Analyst at a managed futures hedge fund, and a Sales and Trading Summer Associate at UBS Investment Bank.
Reginald Tucker is a Robert Toigo Fellow and holds an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School as well as a Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst (CAIA) certification. In 2013 Reginald was recognized as a Rising Star of Public Plans and also a Toigo Foundation 40 Under 40 in Finance.
