Patrick Suel has over 12 years experience managing Corporate Venture Capital funds for international companies. He is currently heading Panasonic Ventures, the Corporate Venture Capital arm of Panasonic Corporation. As the only investor at Panasonic he is responsible for identifying, negotiating and solely leading investments in companies which strategic technologies could be integrated into Panasonic products through deep technical collaborations with Panasonic’s Japanese corporate R&D and business units. As early stage generalist investor he looks for synergies across multiple fields (technologies and business) to build strategic platforms for Panasonic. So far he has completed early stage investments in Nanotechnologies & Materials, Medical Devices, Semiconductors, Software and Energy.
Patrick brings over 25 years of startup experience in Software, Technologies, Venture investment, International Marketing and Business Development and as an Entrepreneur. He previously established SKG Ventures, Korea SK Global’s CVC arm as a Managing Partner and was a Software executive with various venture-backed Silicon Valley startups in Artificial Intelligence, Financial Services, Enterprise Software and Software Tools where his contributions resulted in two IPOs and two M&A exits. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Suel was the founding CEO of Acutend, a medical device company for the non-invasive treatment of hypertension, Genentex, a genetic immunization biotechnology company and Directis, an e-commerce infrastructure.
Mr. Suel is advising technology companies and Venture Funds in various regions in the world. He has published various technical papers and was invited as a guest speaker to Bio2004. Academically, Patrick holds a MSc. in Artificial Intelligence and a MSc. in Physics.
