Orli Arav has over 20 years’ experience as an investor and financier, mainly in project and structured finance within financial institutions and advisory firms. In the past 12 years, Arav structured and closed pioneering transactions in emerging markets with a primary focus of providing capital to infrastructure projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, she raised capital from European governments and debt financing from commercial banks and development finance institutions. Arav joined the Open Society Economic Advancement Program in July 2016 from Impala Energy, were she was the chief investment officer.
Prior to her role at Impala Energy, Arav was the managing director of the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, where she was involved with the financing of over 35 infrastructure projects (approximately U.S.$800 million of commitments) across 16 countries.
Arav has also held positions at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and TASC–Ernst & Young. Arav is currently a non-executive director of DekelOil, a palm oil producer in Ivory Coast. She taught econometrics and applied economics at the Tel Aviv Yafo Academic College and is currently a guest lecturer at the London Business School Executive MBA and Executive Education programs. She holds an MA in economics from Tel Aviv University.
