In January of 2006 Michael Schwaiger joined the Battelle Memorial Institute (Battelle). Michael presently serves as Director, Investment Management, where he leads Battelle’s investment programs with assets greater than $4 billion. These programs include Battelle’s corporate investment portfolios, portfolios of subsidiaries including an offshore captive insurance company and the ERISA qualified retirement plans sponsored by Battelle and voluntary employee benefit association trusts.
Michael has nearly 15 years of experience in corporate finance, accounting and capital markets. He previously served Battelle as an investment analyst. Prior to joining the firm he spent greater than five years with the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
In 2003, Michael earned a Masters of Business Administration from Ashland University. In the executive management program he specialized in finance and investments. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 2000 from The University of Rio Grande.
In addition to his corporate role with Battelle, Michael presently serves as the President of Scientific Advances Inc. Scientific Advances Inc. is a holding company and wholly owned subsidiary of Battelle.
Michael is serving his second consecutive term on the Board of Directors of the Friends of WOSU Public Media since originally being appointed in 2009.
In 2011, Michael was appointed to the Investment Advisory Committee of J.P. Morgan's Global Maritime Investment Fund.
Michael represented Battelle on the Chief Financial Officer Forum of TechColumbus in 2012.
Michael is a 2014 "Rising Star Award" recipient - Institutional Investor-Investor Intelligence Awards.
