Marc Mendelson joined Smith Cove Capital Management in April, 2018 to handle Marketing and Investor Relations. Smith Cove is based in Greenwich, CT and was founded in March 2017 by Dave Russekoff, former CIO of Perry Capital. The firm has nine employees and Partners include: Chetan Gulati (Head of Perry’s London office), Robert Carroll (Perry’s Head Trader), Roger Schmitz (Managing Director at Monarch) and Julian Sale (CFO of QVT). The strategy is concentrated and opportunistic across sectors, geographies and capital structures, focusing on industries and situations facing some form of stress or disruption, often with a definable catalyst. The emphasis has been on $1B to $5B market capitalizations. Prior to joining Smith Cove, Mr. Mendelson was a Managing Director at Alden Global Capital where he was responsible for Investor Relations. He joined Alden in 2014. From 2008-2013, Mr. Mendelson was a member of the J.P. Morgan Services Capital Introduction Team, serving as Head of Americas. Prior to that, from 2003-2008, Mr. Mendelson was with Bear Stearns Capital Introduction Group. He joined the Bear Stearns Prime Brokerage business in 2001. Preceding his time in the Prime Brokerage industry, Mr. Mendelson spent 1998-2001 at Merrill Lynch as part of the Reserved Share Program unit working on equity new issues. Earlier in his professional life, Mr. Mendelson spent five years in the not-for-profit arena, focusing on fund raising and project management. Mr. Mendelson holds a B.A. in Political Science from Hobart College.
