Throughout his entire career journey, Jason has been constantly solving the puzzle of what makes investors tick. While he recently completed his MBA at Duke, his education started decades ago while researching the lives of Buffett, Munger, and Mauboussin. As a pattern seeker, Jason believes many future themes have already occurred, and seeks these out to his advantage. He presently works at Union Grove Venture Partners, a fund-of-funds in Chapel Hill, NC. Prior to this, Jason held positions across the entire capital structure, working at two hedge funds in San Francisco, and most recently, as a credit associate intern at Vanguard, and as an equity analyst intern on a newly launched liquid alternative fund at Thornburg.
With a strong research background, Jason’s edge is in his ability to understand the “how” – how investors will react to specific outcomes, and how these outcomes will shape the market. He gained this ability by meticulously analyzing past decisions made by investors and his own investments. Jason has advised several startups, including State of G in San Francisco, and has founded his own called Paytiently, an app for smart clothes lovers.
At his position at Union Grove Venture Partners, Jason’s responsibilities include due diligence on direct investments in the consumer, healthcare, and technology space, as well as fund managers.
