Chris Freund
Chris Freund founded Mekong Capital in 2001 and is a Partner. Chris is a member of Mekong Capital's Management Committee, Investment Recommendation Committee and is Chairman of Mekong Capital's Board of Directors. Chris is also a member of the Board of Directors of several investee companies.
Chris Freund has 19 years of direct investment management experience, 16 of which were in Vietnam. Prior to forming Mekong Capital in 2001, Chris Freund was a Vice President and Portfolio Manager with Templeton Asset Management, Ltd., the emerging markets arm of the Franklin/Templeton Group. He worked for Templeton in Vietnam from early 1995 until mid-1998, where he screened, analyzed, and monitored private equity investments for the Templeton Vietnam Opportunities Fund. Subsequently he worked for Templeton in Singapore from June 1998 to March 2001, where he continued to monitor Templeton's investments in Vietnam, and was involved with new investments in South Korea, Taiwan and Israel, focusing on technology-related sectors.
Chris is also a co-founder of Navigos Group, owner of VietnamWorks.com and Navigos Search, the largest recruitment services firm in Vietnam. Navigos Group was sold in a trade sale to a Japanese recruitment services firm called En Japan in April 2013.
