She's now been sentenced to death. : Vietnamese real estate tycoon Truong My Lan has been sentenced to death over the country's largest ever financial fraud case. The 67-year-old chair of real estate company Van Thinh Phat was charged with fraud amounting to $US12.5 billion ($19.1 billion). At the time she was arrested in October 2022, that figure amounted to an astonishing three per cent of the country's GDP. Investigators said she used thousands of ghost companies, paid bribes to government officials and violated banking regulations.
