Texas County & District Retirement System, Austin, committed $50 million to Ridgewood Energy Oil & Gas Fund III, a transaction report on the $24.6 billion pension fund’s website said.

The private equity fund invests exclusively in oil and gas exploration, and drilling projects in the deep-water regions of the Gulf of Mexico.

The allocation to the new fund is the pension fund’s third in June for a total of $95 million in commitments, the report showed. Earlier in the month, the pension fund committed $30 million to Axxon Brazil Private Equity Fund III C and $15 million to Quantum Parallel Partners VI-C.
