After taking a hiatus last year, the SALT Conference has changed in several ways, including panels on cryptocurrency and cannabis replacing spots where hedge fund titans once reigned supreme. Conference attendees also noted that the conference, now in its tenth year, has fewer hedge fund “titans” than in previous years when names like Bill Ackman, Paul Tudor Jones and Dan Loeb dominated the stage with market-moving calls. One big hedge fund name who was scheduled to speak this year — Avenue Capital co-founder Marc Lasry — backed out before the conference began.
