The volume of freight  moved by rail between the United States, Canada and Mexico in July was worth $15.7 billion, a 21.8% year-over-year increase and a 6% percent increase compared with July 2019’s level, according to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Rail, the second-most used mode of freight transportation, moved 14.1% of all transborder freight by value in July. By border, freight moved by rail between the United States and Canada in July was worth $9 billion, while freight moved by rail between the United States and Mexico was worth $6.7 billion.
