The chair of UK's influential Treasury Committee has vowed to take her investigation into hedge funds’ use of private polling data to the Financial Conduct Authority, following a “disappointing” response from the British Polling Council. Nicky Morgan is concerned that pollsters make market-sensitive data, such as exit polls taken on the day of voting, available to hedge funds before it can legally be made available to the public — thereby giving them a “trading advantage”.
