SAN FRANCISCO, CA January 20, 2017 -- Mark Canavan, senior portfolio manager at the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board, has joined a prestigious cohort of chief investment officers and senior investors meeting in June to share his insights on future investment trends in real assets.

Speaking to more than 200 institutional investors at Trusted Insight Alpha Conference in San Francisco on June 14, 2017, Canavan will discuss the emerging opportunities and looming pitfalls of investing in real assets in this low-interest rate and uncertain market environment.

“I'm spending more time on agriculture now,” Canavan said in a November 4, 2016 interview with Trusted Insight. “Prices have sold off recently, yet demographics favor it over the long term. If we do have inflation, agriculture will act as an inflation hedge, and if we go deflationary, it’s defensive.”

Canavan will be joined at the forum by high-profile speakers from the industry’s top institutions, including Stuart Mason, chief investment officer at the University of Minnesota; Joel Wittenberg, chief investment officer at W.K. Kellogg Foundation; and Jon Nieman, head of private equity at Saudi Aramco, among many others.

The forum will cover the latest investment trends and opportunities in the ever-changing world of alternative assets, with discussions spanning private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, real estate, real assets and private credit.

“The Trusted Insight Alpha Conference is the preeminent event for institutional investors,” said Alex Bangash, founder and CEO of Trusted Insight. “With the low-yield environment impacting institutional investors’ returns, it has never been more important to discuss portfolio diversification into alternative assets, like venture capital and private equity. In bringing together the top limited partners in our industry, we will identify how the world of institutional investing will evolve over the next forty to fifty years.”
