Copper prices advanced by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today in line with a firm trend overseas. In addition, rising demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market fuelled the uptrend. Meanwhile, China imported 442,000 tonnes of unwrought copper in April, according to customs data released this week, the highest monthly total so far in 2018. Globally, copper for delivery in three-months climbed 0.5 per cent to USD 6,844.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange. In the national capital, copper mixed scrap traded higher by Rs 2 to Rs 442 per kg.
