The Investment Analyst will be part of an 8 person investment team that manages approximately $13 billion in assets. The investment analyst will report to the Senior Vice President who oversees the illiquid, private portfolio, which consists of traditional Private Equity, Natural Resources, and Real Estate assets.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and evaluate the fund managers in the illiquid portfolios
- Understand the investment strategy and underlying assets in each fund
- Create and maintain Excel models to (1) track and project cash flows for the funds and overall portfolio, and (2) track and monitor investment and geographic exposures of the underlying assets
- Compare and evaluate fund and deal performance through IRR, return on capital and benchmarking analytics
- Attend meetings/conference calls with and review reports and letters of existing investment managers to stay current on fund activities
- Prepare quarterly reports on portfolio performance, exposures, liquidity and cash flows
- Assist with monthly and quarterly performance reporting and reconciliation
- Assist in the identification and screening of prospective fund managers through qualitative and quantitative analysis and portfolio fit
- Network with institutional peers and managers to stay informed on investment trends and discover compelling investment opportunities
- Prepare reports for the routine review of asset-class performance
- Participate in and support special projects on an ad-hoc basis
- Liaise and interact with the external private equity advisor

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business and/or finance
• 2-3 years private equity experience, preferably in a similar role at either a pension fund, endowment, or foundation
• Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills
• Strong excel and financial modeling skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience with Burgiss applications preferred, but not necessary
• Ability to work in a small team environment
• Self-motivated, with a passion for learning and a desire to learn about investments
