POSITION: Managing Director, Institutional Fundraising

Location: New York, NY or San Francisco, CA


ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Managing Director, Institutional Fundraising will be accountable to the Head of Institutional Fundraising to:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with institutional investors and/or their managers/advisors/consultants, with the intent of attracting capital to a variety of credit focused investment strategies by Medley.
  • Take lead role in managing relationships with institutional investors and to market new credit strategies; obtain capital commitments and to work with Medley’s Investor Relations team to update investors with traditional financial reports and customized reports. 
  • Increase investor recognition of Medley’s brand, platform and strategies and extend Medley’s connectivity in the global institutional arena. 
  • Assist with investor identification and solicitation; establishing initial dialogues; preparing targeted/investor-specific presentation materials; coordinating fundraising scheduling, and creating detailed diligence follow up meetings.
  • Respond to prospective investor inquiries, questionnaires and RFP’s; coordinating closing and follow up.


QUALIFICATIONS

Essential attributes include;

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Graduate degree a plus, though not necessary.
  • 15+ years of work experience, ideally in alternative investments/investment management with a significant portion spent in a sales or marketing role
  • Fixed income distribution and/or credit syndication experience from a top tier investment banking platform covering institutional investors.
  • Prior experience with institutional investor community (corporate and state pension plans, endowments, foundations, pension consultants, insurance companies, fund of funds, sovereign wealth funds and high net worth).
  • Ideally, candidate will have developed network of institutional investors and will have extensive knowledge of and experience with the capital raising process including: marketing, negotiating, legal, reporting and diligence.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and follow-up skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of the company including Senior Management and external parties. 
  • Ability to quickly garner the respect of colleagues, as well as other industry professionals.
  • Entrepreneurial mentality/self-starter.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience, skills and abilities.
  • Impeccable ethics and integrity.
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to continuously add to knowledge base.
