Job Overview

MassPRIM (Pension Reserves Investment Management Board), the Massachusetts state pension fund with assets under management of approximately $100 billion, is recruiting an Investment Officer for the Real Estate and Timberland investment team. The Investment Officer will conduct research, analysis and assist in the management of PRIM’s commercial Real Estate and Timberland portfolios.

Investment Officer, Real Estate and Timberland Responsibilities and Duties

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively to ensure investment goals are achieved and risks are managed effectively.
  • Manage and monitor investment managers and underlying portfolios to ensure compliance with investment guidelines and objectives.
  • Assist with manager sourcing, pipeline management, due diligence, and performance analysis.
  • Prepare and present materials regarding new investment opportunities to the Investment staff, Investment Committee and Board.
  • Remain current on new managers and investment trends by attending conferences, annual meetings, and maintaining a well-developed network of contacts within the investment community.
  • Articulating and defending opinions backed by rigorous analysis through both oral and written communication.
  • Conduct investment portfolio analytics.
  • Travel will be required to research potential investment opportunities, conduct property and market tours, monitor existing investments, and attend industry events, etc.
  • Perform research on asset allocation, global economics, Real Estate, and Timberland markets.
  • Participate in the preparation and review of portfolio and debt reporting packages.
  • Oversee quarterly valuation process.
  • Participate in the cash management process.

Investment Officer, Real Estate and Timberland Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a concentration in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics or Real Estate.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Real Estate and Timberland investing.
  • CFA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
  • Experience with Argus Software is a plus.
