POSITION SUMMARY
The Foundation seeks an Investment Analyst to support the Private Investment Group. The analyst will perform a variety of tasks including, analysis, financial modeling, qualitative due diligence, research, presentation development and more to support Private Investments. The analyst will be part of the Foundation Analyst program, a three-year term appointment. Analysts will split time between the Foundation’s New York City office and Princeton, New Jersey headquarters.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Investment team manages $11+ billion of assets utilizing a long-term framework. RWJF engages with a global network of external, typically specialized, investment managers to create a diversified investment portfolio. The Foundation’s Investment team allocates capital to a broad array of investment strategies including public and private equity, hedge funds, venture and growth capital, real estate, energy, private credit, and fixed income. The Investment team structure is fairly flat but collaborative across functional areas. 

The Foundation seeks an Investment Analyst to support the Private Investment Group. The analyst will perform a variety of tasks including, analysis, financial modeling, qualitative due diligence, research, presentation development and more to support Private Investments. The analyst will be part of the Foundation Analyst program, a three-year term appointment. Analysts will split time between the Foundation’s New York City office and Princeton, New Jersey headquarters.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 
• Perform quantitative analysis, financial modeling and qualitative due diligence relevant to private equity, venture and growth capital, real estate, energy, private credit, and other private markets. 

• Participate in meetings and conference calls with current and prospective investment managers. Interact with top investment organizations and other institutional investors globally. 

• Develop internal perspectives, gather and synthesize 3rd party research on potential and existing managers, portfolio companies, asset allocation, country investment potential and trends, and other investment topics. 

• Help prepare detailed materials (e.g., memos and presentations) for investment proposals, internal group meetings, and Board Investment Committee meetings. 

• Work collaboratively with colleagues in Information Systems, Investment Operations, Finance, Tax, and Legal to identify general investment and specific project/fund/deal issues, track manager and fund on-boarding and monitoring processes, validate key information for private investments performance, liquidity, and general risk and financial reporting. 

• Perform other duties, as assigned. 


QUALIFICATIONS 
• Bachelor’s degree with strong academics. 

• One to three years of experience in a financial services firm and/or similar role. 

• Able to foster an inclusive environment working as part of a multidisciplinary team and working effectively with persons from diverse cultural, social and ethnic backgrounds. 

• Personal and professional commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. 

• Understands business concepts, capital markets and investments landscape. 

• PC skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Dropbox, Google docs. Experience with Microsoft Excel and other tools to create financial models/analysis are essential. 

• Understands databases, comfortable with technology. Able to learn new information systems for investment screening, monitoring and reporting. Experience with Bloomberg terminal systems helpful. 

• Able to lead, monitor and balance work needs. Able to work independently as well as in a collaborative team-oriented culture. Consistently deliver high quality work results in an efficient and timely manner. 

• Interpersonal skills; professional representative of the Foundation, collegial, energetic, able to develop productive relationships with colleagues, build a network of peers at other organizations, and engage with stakeholders. 

• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously often under pressure and tight deadlines. 

• Curious, analytical, applies analysis/reasoning and uses effective problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to identify key issues, alert colleagues, and work cooperatively to craft and execute solutions. 

• Strong detail orientation and time-management skills. 

• Solid written and oral communication skills. Able to understand context and tailor communications to objectives and audience. Writing/presentation samples requested. 

• Interest and motivation in supporting the Foundation’s mission and goals. 

• Able to travel, including internationally. 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
The incumbent performs job duties in a normal business office environment. Tasks are generally carried out with no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands. While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is regularly required to work at a desk with a computer for extended periods of time. Specific physical abilities required by this job include operating basic office equipment such as personal computers, duplicating machines, fax machines and standard office telephones. The incumbent may be required to attend meetings, both on-site and off-site, via phone or videoconference.
