PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

This position reports to the VP of Investment Strategy. The position is fully responsible for identifying, implementing, and monitoring all of Exelon’s equity investments.  The position will help to develop investment strategies for pension funds, retiree healthcare portfolios, employee saving plans and foundation.  The position will also help to coordinate the asset allocation process. The candidate should have a background in asset allocation, portfolio strategy and investment risk management complemented by strong quantitative skills.  Also requires extensive experience working with outside investment managers.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the effort to source new equity managers and to monitor existing equity managers (~$17 bln) including conducting manager calls, preparing quantitative analysis, reviewing investment performance, and preparing manager summary reports for senior management. Performs analysis and recommends the selection of various equity sub-asset classes and investment managers. Conduct on site due diligence on domestic and foreign investment managers. Prepare investment memoranda and quarterly reports for selected external managers. Develop and recommend for implementation, strategic investment plans, policies, and guidelines. Owns all aspects of the equity investment program (50%)
  • Work on developing investment strategies and managing asset allocation for all Exelon trusts. Work to ensure the effectiveness of the Exelon asset allocation in terms of both total return and excess return. Perform analysis on asset allocation for country, industry sector and factors. Produce risk analytics to evaluate our managers and portfolio construction, including stress testing and scenario analysis. Oversee reporting of trust allocations relative to target benchmarks. Produce reporting to increase understanding of our investment strategy and asset allocation for internal Investment Office use, as well as, reporting to Investment Committee and Board subcommittee. (50%)

JOB SCOPE

  • At the direction of the CIO and VP of Investment Strategy, manage Exelon's equity portfolios.
  • Analyze, recommend, and implement investments in various asset classes.
  • Assist in the oversight of the analysis and reporting of investment results.
  • Recommend and implement the hiring and firing of investment managers, trustees, consultants, and actuaries based on performance, analysis, fees and meetings.
  • Organize and deliver presentations at various committee meetings (Exelon Board Investment Oversight Committee, Corporate Investment Committee, and Manager Approval Panel)
  • Assist with the direction and oversight of legal, actuarial, accounting, and investment professionals within and outside the Company.
  • Willingness to travel (15 to 30%)

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related degree.
  • MBA or CFA equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years financial experience with demonstrated leadership in a Financial, Investment, Risk, Actuarial and/or Treasury function.
  • Strong knowledge of investment principles and capital markets, particularly equities
  • Experience with manager due diligence, manager selection and portfolio construction
  • Knowledge of Aladdin or eVestment software preferred
  • Experience with asset allocation implementation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
