This list features 30 women investment chiefs at world’s leading university endowments, foundations, pension funds, family offices and corporations who represent a unique group of investors that challenge the status quo. Also, firms with a higher allocation to alternative investments were favored over those with a traditional portfolio structure.

Solina Chau is the co-founder of Horizons Ventures, the family office backed by Hong Kong's richest man Li Ka-Shing. The firm specializes in technology startups investments globally. Chau and her business partner Debbie Chang founded Horizons Ventures in 1992. Chau is also a partner of Cheung Kong Group, a Hong Kong multi-national conglomerates chaired by Li Ka-Shing. Chau graduated from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.

Dawn Fitzpatrick recently joined Soros Fund Management in January as chief investment officer. She previously was a senior executive at the asset management arm of the Swiss bank UBS. Fitzpatrick began her career in the 1990s as a clerk on the American Stock Exchange. By 2013, she had risen through the ranks to lead UBS O’Connor’s hedge fund business. In 2016, she was named the head of a new unit that combined UBS' hedge fund business with other investment platforms.
