Steven Brown
LP
I'm currently a Portfolio Manager at Pergament Advisors, a family office, focusing on the firm's multi-strategy hedge fund, the credit and equity accounts, and the private investment initiative (hybrid debt and equity). I also oversee the remaining fund-of-funds (known as Falcon) and the LP investments in Blackstone and Goode Partners.
I began my career in 2000 as an Analyst at UBS in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group after graduating from Columbia University. I worked with all the industry groups and closed transactions in the Industrial, Healthcare, and Technology industries. After two years at UBS I was recruited by a senior colleague to join Kaupthing, a UK and Icelandic based bank focused on merchant banking. During my two plus years in Kaupthing's NYC office I focused on cross border M&A advisory and principal investing in mezzanine loans of US leveraged buyouts. In 2005 I joined Pergament Advisors (at the time a diversified asset manager with in excess of $500 million in private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, fund-of-funds, corporate and municipal bonds, and equity) as a Senior Analyst. During my first four years at the firm I focused on two internal hedge funds - Richmond Capital (event-driven) and Midtown Strategic (long/short equity). During 2009 and 2010 the firm restructured and later launched the multi-strategy fund and in 2012 transitioned to a family office managing the Pergament family's alternative investments alongside select clients. I work directly with Arthur Pergament, the founder of the firm, on the multi-strategy fund, which is generally comprised of credit and equity, the long only focused family accounts, the private equity initiative which is currently focused on hybrid debt or equity in the Consumer space, and opportunistic mezzanine lending.
