Sid Malhotra, CFA, CPA is the Chief Investment Officer and a founding member at Kactus Capital and responsible for leading the firm’s investment efforts. Prior to joining Kactus Capital in 2014, Sid was a Vice President in the Asset Management group at the Pritzker Group family office where he focused on portfolio management, investment manager selection, direct investments, co-investments and risk management. Prior to Pritzker, Sid worked in Portfolio Management at Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company (PAAMCO), a $9B leading institutional hedge fund of funds, where he oversaw over $1B in hedge fund investments including sourcing and analyzing hedge fund managers, due diligence, risk monitoring and portfolio management. Before joining PAAMCO, Sid was a credit analyst at Citadel, a $12B multi-strategy hedge fund, with a focus on investments across the capital structure. Prior to Citadel, Sid worked in the Transaction Advisory Services group at KPMG LLP where he provided merger and acquisition advisory and financing services to middle market private equity funds, investment banks and commercial banks. He began his career in the audit group at KPMG LLP. Sid holds a MBA in Analytic Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Masters in Professional Accounting from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas – Austin and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. He has completed the Value Investing Executive Education program at Columbia Business School and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Sid is a member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA) and is a guest lecturer at Columbia University’s graduate School of Professional Studies.
