As Managing Partner for Patina Solutions, Matt Mullarkey is responsible for all aspects of the firm's Tampa Bay operation including the broader metro area from Sarasota to Orlando.
Matt has more than 20 years of experience in senior leadership roles in the automotive, applied materials and medical device industries with P&L responsibilities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Brazil, India, Singapore, China, Japan, Australia and Korea. He works diligently to support business leaders from the perspective of an executive who has built businesses, grown sales, driven profits and delivered strategic approaches that transform organizations.
Prior to joining Patina Solutions, Matt was Chief Operating Officer at West Pharmaceutical Services, the largest supplier of injectable drug delivery systems and components to every pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical company from over 45 FDA, SFDA and EMEA approved facilities globally. Before joining West, he was Chief Executive Officer of a $60 million applied materials group of companies that supplied the impact absorbing systems in U.S. military helmets. Matt also personally led the discovery and market launch of a patented vehicle armoring system specifically designed to defeat the Explosively Formed Projectiles (EFPs) that were challenging allied forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Matt developed the EU and NA Automotive practice for Cambridge Management Consulting in London. From there, he joined Delco Remy International, the leading global supplier of automotive starters and alternators, as Senior Vice President of Operations. Recruited to medical mobility device leader, Invacare Corporation, Matt initially led the company’s North American P&L with responsibility for operations of a 15,000 dealer network and sales of $650 million. He then took responsibility for global operations of this $1.6 billion leader in durable home medical equipment with 24 FDA, SFDA and EMEA facilities globally. Matt led the business transformation that reorganized global manufacturing and supply chain, integrated two large acquisitions and built two FDA approved facilities for respiratory and mobility device manufacturing and sales in China.
Earlier in his career, Matt was an Industrial Engineer for Michelin Tire Group, where he led the Michelin North America "Blackbelt" change leadership and lean qualification program. He also held progressive leadership roles in manufacturing, supply chain and business operations while living in the U.S., Canada and France over his 11 years with Michelin.
Matt began his career as an Airborne, Ranger qualified Infantry Officer in the 25th Infantry Division (Light) in the U.S. Army deployed frequently to Thailand, Korea, Japan and Panama. He earned a B.S. in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), an M.S. in Systems Management from the University of Southern California and an M.B.A. from the Moore Business School at the University of South Carolina.
Matt consults with a number of PE firms on acquisitions and due diligence and has been a corporate officer at two NYSE listed companies, a board member of three private equity controlled companies, and Chairman of the 501(c)3 non-profit Lorain County Urban League (Ohio) over five years. His charitable focus has included sponsored events supporting Fisher House (for families of wounded warriors) and Catholic Charities refugee services.
