Joseph Zeng is a partner overseeing the Hong Kong Office of Greenwoods Asset Management. Greenwoods is one of the largest China based investment managers specializing in managing equity long/short investments into PRC companies listed in HK, China, and the US, based on fundamental research with a combination of top-down and bottom up analysis. Its flagship Golden China Fund achieved an cumulative net return from inception (July 2004) to May 2014 is 959.32%, or 26.87% annualized, vs 10.57% of MSCI China USD Index and 9.18% of H Share index.. It was ranked the 2013 by EurekaHedge, Fund of Best Asia Hedge Fund over $100 mm by Bloomberg in 2009, and was awarded the Single Country Fund by AsiaHedge in Oct 2007 for 1-year return of 157% and Sharpe Ratio of 5.42. Before joining Greenwoods, Mr. Zeng was an investment banker with JPMorgan, covering the IPOs and M&As of China banks, insurers, and asset managers. Prior to that Mr. Zeng was an equity analyst co-covering Chinese banks for JP Morgan, when his team was ranked the #2 Asia financial research team in the poll of Institutional Investors. Before that he was a Vice President of Bank of China in New York and managed a two billion dollar credit portfolio, and a risk manager prior to that. Mr. Zeng graduated with a Master degree in Accounting & Finance from the London School of Economics (LSE), where he was awarded the Robert Fleming scholarship. In 1998 he was a representative of Chinese students to meet with Mr. Zhu Rongji, China’s Prime Minister, in London. He also attended the Master of Intl Finance program of the Graduate School of the People's Bank of China in Beijing. And he earned the bachelor degree in intl finance from Wuhan University. Mr. Zeng is a CFA charterholder. He was a member of the New York Society of Securities Analysts (NYSSA), and was a board member of the Chinese Finance Society (CFS) in the US. Mr. Zeng was the chairman of the American Alumni Association of the Graduate School of the People’s Bank of China, and the vice chairman of the Hong Kong Alumni Association of the Graduate School of the People’s Bank of China.
