Joe Bryant is an Investment Director at the UCLA Investment Company, where she has been for the past 2+ years. The UCLA Investment Company is the discretionary investment advisor for The UCLA Foundation's >$2.5 billion endowment. The endowment's performance was top ranked in 2017 compared to peers across all US universities and endowments above $1 billion. Joe is responsible for overseeing 25% of the endowment assets across global public and private markets, including (i) a venture capital and growth capital portfolio comprised of direct and indirect investments; (ii) investments in emerging markets in Asia including India, S.E. Asia, China and Japan; and (iii) the global long-only and developed markets hedge fund portfolio for the endowment. Ms. Bryant has 12 years of experience in the international asset management industry, across private equity, venture capital, public equities and emerging markets. Prior to UCLA, Ms. Bryant was Managing Director, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at an Asia-focused asset management firm. Prior to that, Ms. Bryant spent a decade in private practice with global firms in New York, Asia, Silicon Valley and Los Angeles advising on cross-border corporate transactions and structuring investment platforms for GPs across the spectrum of alternative investments, as well as university endowments, multinationals, sovereign wealth funds and family offices, including 5+ years as counsel to Apollo Global Management (NYSE: APO).
