Geoff has 20 years of experience in the software industry, most recently at Microsoft in engineering leadership and executive leadership positions. He has built a deep set of technical expertise across a variety of areas including Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning, Mobile, Digital Media and Commerce. Geoff played key roles in launching products that affected over a billion users. He led global teams across the US, Europe and China. He started a new division within Microsoft and grew it from its first hire to a team of 250 in less than one year. He led or was a key player in several Microsoft acquisitions and did a series of deals with such industry partners as Viacom/MTV, Napster and Universal Music. In his most recent role at Microsoft, Geoff was General Manager for the Speech@Microsoft team where he led advancements in Speech Recognition and Natural Language Processing which are shipped in Xbox, Windows and Cortana, Microsoft’s intelligent personal assistant. Geoff is an active angel investor, deeply engaged in promoting angel investing within Seattle in an effort to grow the funding ecosystem for local startups. Geoff serves on the Seattle Angel Board of Directors. Seattle Angel is a non-profit with a mission of educating both entrepreneurs and angel investors. Seattle Angel oversees both the Seattle Angel Conference and Seattle Angel Fund. Geoff served as the Fund Manager for Seattle Angel Conference VII and also raised a subsequent angel fund which he manages. Geoff is also a member/investor/mentor in Seattle Angel Fund, Alliance of Angels and Techstars Seattle.
