Chris Eyre

Chris currently serves Legacy as Partner Emeritus. Chris joined Legacy as a Managing Director in 2001 soon after his former partner Jim Anderson shared the unique model he had created with Russ Hall. Chris has witnessed technology investing cycles in Silicon Valley for almost 40 years. He was one of the early venture capitalists as a founding partner of Merrill Pickard Anderson & Eyre (MPAE), the pioneering venture firm that evolved from Bank of America in the 70’s. MPAE built a remarkable investment record, and Chris’s partners later went on to form Benchmark Capital and Foundation Capital.
In addition to his venture capital career, Chris has devoted significant time to family, philanthropy and church service, as well as personal investing. He has worked extensively with youth in a teaching and counseling role. He served for five years as the lay minister for a large congregation of his church and three years presiding over its Toronto Mission. He was an inaugural member of The Philanthropic Workshop, and has served on the boards and advised numerous non-profit organizations which include: Global Citizen Year, American Leadership Forum, Benetech, Positive Coaching Alliance, IDEO.org, and the National Advisory Council of the Marriott School of Business.
Chris holds a B.S. in Psychology from Utah State University and a MBA from Harvard Business School. His Partner Emeritus role affords Chris and his wife, Hedy, more time to enjoy their growing portfolio of 5 children and 20 grandchildren.
