Ahovi G. Kponou
Ahovi has a multifaceted financial services background with 15+ years experience in Buy-Side Investing (equity long/short, distressed debt, private equity), Financial Advisory (mergers & acquisitions, capital markets) and Entrepreneurship (business development, fundraising). Over the course of his career, he has invested in, advised or gained exposure to companies throughout developed markets in North America/Europe as well as emerging and frontier markets in Africa, Latin America, Central Asia and the Middle East. Ahovi is currently pursuing a capital raising effort with institutional/HNW investors for an equity long/short hedge fund, Outpost Partners, intended to invest globally in non-BRIC emerging and frontier markets with a focus on Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. The fund will invest in sectors exposed to growth trends in these markets including energy, basic materials, industrials, consumer products/services, financial services and telecommunications. Prior to Outpost Partners, Ahovi was a partner at Para Advisors LLC, a special situations hedge fund focused on catalyst-driven investment opportunities across the capital structure including bank debt, high yield bonds, distressed debt, busted convertibles, preferred stock and common equity. As a Senior Analyst at Para, Ahovi covered event driven opportunities across all sectors with a particular focus on commodity and heavy cyclical sectors such as energy, basic materials, agribusiness and industrials. Prior to joining Para, Ahovi was an Associate in Morgan Stanley & Co.’s mergers and acquisitions and leveraged finance groups where he advised a wide variety of clients on strategic M&A alternatives and high yield financings. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Ahovi worked as an associate at Oak Hill Partners where he led all phases of the private equity investment process including new idea generation, analyzing transaction structures, performing due diligence and monitoring portfolio companies. Prior to Oak Hill, Ahovi was a Financial Analyst in the Goldman Sachs M&A department where he participated in all aspects of exclusive seller, divestiture, buyer advisory, anti-raid defense and JV transactions in a variety of industries. Ahovi earned his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He has an MS in Engineering-Economic Systems and a BA in Quantitative Economics also from Stanford University.
