The University of Connecticut has raised $1.5 million for its early-stage fund for new business startups affiliated with the school. UConn Innovation Fund was launched in partnership with Connecticut Innovations and Webster Bank. The fund invests $100,000 apiece to companies founded by students, faculty members and alumni of the university. So far, UConn Innovation Fund has provided capital to three startups: Torigen Pharmaceuticals, which is focused on providing veterinary cancer care solutions for companion animals; Bioarray Genetics Inc, a cancer-focused molecular diagnostics company; and Shoreline Biome, a human microbiome startup.
