State-Boston Retirement System invested or committed a total of $525 million to five managers, said John Kelly to Pensions & Investments, investment analyst for the $4 billion pension fund.

The system hired Income Research & Management and BlackRock (BLK) to manage about $150 million each in core fixed income.

The pension fund also hired Crescent Capital Group and DDJ Capital Management to manage $100 million each in high-yield bonds.

Finally, the board elected to make a $25 million commitment to GoldenTree Distressed Fund 2014, managed by GoldenTree Asset Management as part of a credit opportunities search.
