<p>When Oaktree Capital&rsquo;s Howard Marks pulled the plug on the 2015 auction of his firm&rsquo;s AdvancePierre Foods some thought he was taking a risk.</p> <p>After all Oaktree, which paid $170 million for a 42 percent stake in the company that sells stuffed breasts, chicken fingers and other poultry products to food services, schools and convenience stores, was poised to take in about $1 billion from the sale.</p>
