VGI Partners' executive and head of research, Douglas Tynan, has resigned from the high-profile hedge fund, citing personal reasons for stepping down from the $3.2 billion fund. Mr Tynan, 39, has been a senior figure alongside founder Rob Luciano since the hedge fund was formed 12 years ago and his resignation has come as a shock to the local investment industry. Mr Tynan had earned a reputation as a skilled short-seller with a high work ethic and has been behind the activist short bets against Slater & Gordon and more recently Corporate Travel Management.
