Private equity firm Carlyle Group is exploring investing opportunities in India's distressed assets space, according to a Mint report. Washington DC-based Carlyle Group recently said it will invest about USD 1.2-1.3 billion in India. It also announced the close of its fifth Asia buyout fund at USD 6.55 billion. "Carlyle's core investment philosophy remains the same, but the PE firm feels that there are good bargains in the corporate insolvency space, in which some well-known consumer brands are likely to be available for acquisition.
