<p>Brown University, with the smallest endowment in the Ivy League, said it had an investment loss of 1.1 percent in a year “that proved challenging across global financial markets.”</p>
<p>The value of the endowment declined 3 percent to $3.2 billion in the year through June 30, the Providence-based school said in a statement. Brown is among six of the Ivy League schools to report a loss. Of the other two Ivies, Yale University had a 3.4 percent gain and Princeton University hasn’t reported.</p>
