Brooklyn-based MakerBot, considered a pioneer in desktop 3D printing, was acquired by Stratasys Ltd. (NASDAQ: SSYS), a 3D printing and additive manufacturing provider in 2013, for $403m. Founded in 2009, MakerBot has made making 3D printers highly accessible bringing them to engineers, architects, designers, and educators worldwide.
