I returned to Cambodia three weeks ago to discover that the country has experienced some significant events since my departure in late May, most notably the recent 28 July national elections. Prime Minister Hun Sen’s ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) won the election with 68 Parliamentary seats; however, the opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party’s (CNRP; with 55 seats secured) has argued the election was systematically rigged.
