The Manager of Investments will report to the Senior Director, Equity and Directional Hedge Funds. This position is responsible for supporting all of the investment activities of the CommonSpirit Health Investment Program with a focus on public market investments in equities and directional hedge funds. Domestic and limited international travel are expected to monitor managers and source new opportunities.

In addition, the Manager will work with other colleagues across an array of invested managers across asset classes in a lead or supporting role in fixed income, absolute return hedge funds, real assets, and private equity managers.

Responsibilities include:

Portfolio Monitoring and Management:

Manage relationships:  Deeply know managers under coverage and develop manager relationships across managers’ organizations in addition to the investment team in order to achieve access to insights, capacity, operational efficiency and overall partnership engagement for CommonSpirit Health.

Effectively prepare and lead meetings, document insights in notes, and archive to the CRM system.
Manage portfolios: Develop independent views on the strengths, gaps and opportunities for portfolios and collaborate with the Senior Director to enhance portfolios. Understand the portfolio construction philosophy and tools of CommonSpirit Health and explore enhancements.
Analytical monitoring: Effectively monitor the data, exposures and manager information for insights into investments and market environments. Utilize internal and external factor and risk analytics and tools. Collaborate with the Director, Investment Risk and Compliance, and leverage insights and ideas.
Qualitative evaluation: Successfully drive the monitoring agendas of manager meetings and calls, evaluate letters and factsheets in the context of the market environment and philosophy.
Assist with portfolio monitoring and portfolio construction, including development of analytical tools, collaboration with Operations, asset class updates, and team meeting updates.

Investment Manager Selection:

Identify, evaluate, select and monitor differentiated investment managers independently and in collaboration with the Senior Director and others.
Effectively prioritize, prepare and lead sourcing meetings.
Develop manager recommendation memos and thoroughly analyze and qualitatively assess attributes, risks and opportunities.
Recommend managers in the context of portfolio construction goals and evaluate impacts.
Present recommendations. Receive and welcome questions and due diligence follow ups.
Possess and hone manager sourcing skills through relationships, consultants, databases and portfolio analysis tools and other approaches.
Enhance peer monitoring in the sourcing and portfolio monitoring process.
Represent the interests of CommonSpirit Health effectively in negotiations and expand negotiation effectiveness through coaching.
Develop knowledge of various fee alignment schedules utilized.

Team-level Engagement:

Support the CIO on organizational, asset class or manager-level projects, as needed.
Engage actively as a member of the Internal Investment Committee:
Lead and/or support invested manager coverage across all asset classes according to assignments or requests.
Coach and mentor investment and operations analysts in their growth.
Represent CommonSpirit Health and the investment program with high integrity and professionalism. Serve as a respected ambassador for the organization at manager meetings, conferences, and industry events.
Support the defined contribution programs, as needed.


Skills and Qualifications:

Education/ Accreditation/ Licensure (required & preferred):

Bachelor’s Degree, required.
Holder of (or advancement toward) Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst (CAIA), and/or interest in or possession of an advanced degree, preferred.
Extensive experience conducting data analysis in Excel, required. Bloomberg or common risk factor analytical tools, preferred.
