The Director, Investment & Asset Management plans, directs and coordinates the activities relating to investments, treasury functions, cash management, trusts and retirement related investments.  The Director, Investment & Asset Management summarizes data describing current and long-term trends in investment risks and economic influences pertinent to Shriners Hospitals for Children’s (SHC) investments.  The person in this role may make and recommend policy modifications to SHC Investment Committee.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the primary contact to external Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) managers, investment consultants, SHC Board Members, donor development and others regarding SHC endowment fund matters.   30%

  • Oversees the process and supervises the staff that deals with income trusts, real estate marketing and miscellaneous assets and deals with legal department on these matters.     30%      

  • Manages the activities of the Shriners Hospitals for Children (SHC) endowment fund by coordinating the efforts of the SHC Board of Directors’ Investment Committee and its related sub-committees.   20 %    

  • Works together with donor development personnel with respect to the donation of assets to SHC.  10 %

  • Keeps informed of current trends in national and international markets.   10 %



The qualified candidate will have experience in the following areas: 

  • 10 or more years of investment management experience required

  • Experience managing/supervising personnel required


Minimum Education Required/Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) credential preferred


Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of investment and accounting principles and practices as well as systems used to support those business processes

  • Excellent interpersonal and team building as well as time and stress management skills

  • Deep working knowledge and understanding of the full range of finance, accounting, and asset and investment management principals, as well as ability to disseminate this information in a manner respectful to the appropriate audiences.

  • Approachable demeanor with all levels of employees and board members.

  • Ability to work with diverse personalities at all levels of hierarchy at the corporate, board and hospital levels

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information while maintaining an exceptional level of ethical business conduct

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Word and Excel

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
