Our client, a private equity firm offering a suite of private equity co-mingled funds and customized solutions, is seeking a business development "hunter" to cover a large domestic territory.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively engage U.S. based institutional investors through marketing communication, calls, meetings, and industry conferences
- Execute an aggressive institutional investor sales strategy covering; Public and Corporate Pensions, Insurance Companies, Endowments and Foundations, Taft Hartley, Sovereign Wealth funds and Family Offices in a designated territory - building a strong presence and positive reputation
- Record prospecting activities and opportunities in contact management system on a timely basis
- Develop product fluency across firm’s investment options - including private equity and venture capital co-mingled funds, co-investment funds and separately managed accounts
- Provide ongoing communication and feedback to Partners, Head of Business Development, and Head of Consultant Relations regarding prospective investors and their associated investment consultants
- Meet predetermined targets for meetings, new mandates and new revenue
- Work collaboratively with senior investment team, business development counterparts, analysts, head of business development, consultant relations, operations and compliance
- Monitor various investment news sources for announcements on search activity and new mandates, uncovering new business opportunities as they arise
- Grow assets under management while enhancing the client experience
- Proactively manage existing relationships - identify and aggressively defend at-risk business
- Provide ongoing input on presentation material and new product development
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required (MBA and/or CFA a plus)
- 5 - 7 years institutional investment sales experience
- Experience in private equity and/or alternative investments
- Strong familiarity with the U.S. institutional investor target market
- Deep professional network of Institutional Investor and Family Office contacts
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and presentation skills
- Ability to establish credibility with institutional investors
- Strong understanding of institutional investor and institutional investment consultant investment manager selection process and related industry issues
- Understanding of key drivers of success and a commitment to excellence
- Working knowledge of competitors
- Effective problem identification and resolution skills
- Proficient computer skills including; SalesForce, Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail
- Capacity to develop good working relationships with business development counterparts, senior investment team members, analysts and associates
- Significant investor outreach and travel required
