Though lately the industry has received adverse press, many believe it is not adequately credited for the tremendous value it has created for high net worth investors, endowments, foundations and pension funds. Adjunct Associate Professor of Finance and Economics at CBS, and Chief Investment Officer of MOW & AYW LLC For two decades Michael has invested at the security level and as an allocator. Currently he is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Economics and Finance at Columbia Business School (CBS). Michael is also Chief Investment Officer of MOW & AYW LLC., a bespoke multi-asset/strategy investment solution provider for a family office. He has spent the last 9 years as a Managing Director and global business head at Financial Risk Management (FRM), where he was on the management, investment and asset allocation committees. Prior to FRM he was an equity long/short portfolio manager at Soros and Credit Suisse, and a real estate analyst at Dean Witter. Michael has a BS from NYU, an MBA from CBS and a CFA. He is a member of the Yale, Princeton and NYU FO-Councils, IAFE, NYSSA, CFAI and the Economic Club-NY. Hedge Fund-Intelligence has published Michael’s articles, and he is a panelist and moderator for IVY and FOA. Panelists: (more to be announced) Randall M. Heck, General Partner, Goodnow Investment Group, LLC Mr. Heck is a general partner of Goodnow Investment Group, LLC where he is responsible for the portfolio management activities of the firm’s long/short and long only business. Mr. Heck joined the firm in 1992. From 1983 to 1992 Mr. Heck was employed by Gabelli & Co. In 1985 he became Managing Director of Gabelli Associates Fund, L.P., an event-driven hedge fund. From 1988 to 1992 he served as Director of Gabelli Securities, Inc. Mr. Heck received his B.A. from McDaniel College in 1982 and his M.B.A., graduating with honors, from Columbia University School of Business in 1983. Seth Rosen, CFA, Principal / Portfolio Manager, Eminence Capital Prior to joining Eminence Capital, Seth spent eight months at Fusion Capital Management, LLC covering a wide range of industries and companies. Prior to joining Fusion he obtained an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Columbia Business School and was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. While attending business school, Seth worked as a consultant for Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) focusing on EVAÒ-related research projects. From 1994-1997, he worked as a Research Associate in Equity Research for CSFB in New York and London covering a variety of industries. From 1992-1994, Seth worked for NatWest Markets as an Associate and completed the firm’s credit training program.
